SMTP server doens't send mail
Originally posted by : Dochera (rustin2@home.com)
Hi I am running iis5 and smtp server supplied with w2k. I'm new to this so bear with me [
] I am running an asp discussion board that has the option to send email to user when someone replies to their message
I think I have the script done correctly because upon testing I don't get any error messages and when I check my " inetpub/mailroot/pickup" folder a copy of the messages are in there which shows thsat the emsils sre being produced properly
The problem is I never get them, I have set my email address (provided by my ISP) as the recipient but I never get anything! I checked all other mail folders, (badmail, queue, route,etc...) but no messages are in those folders, that makes me think the messages are attempting to go out,
Maybe I have some settings wrong, I have the host set-up as my network computer name. Anyone have any useful info on proper configuration?!

I'm not sure if this could be caused by the smtp server but recently, since I've been testing the server in the last day, My inetinfo.exe file began using 99& of my cpu ALL THE TIME I have searched around for a solution to fixing the problem but haven't found one! The ONLY way I have found to kill the process is
to actually un-install WWWserver from the windows setup, I then tried to reinstall the service and the file jumped right back to 100% usage of CPU, Could this have anything at all to do with the smtp server and a mailing error ? Anyone know a solution, I'm about to attempt to reinstall the O.S. and see if that fixes it
But any advice would be greatly appreciated
|
