Need a program to extract info from Excel

I am in a quest for a program that can do the seemingly impossible, at least for me.
Situation:
We have upwards of 100 vendors who supply us weekly with their current inventories. The good thing is that they are all in Excel format. The bad thing is that each vendor uses different column headings, acronyms, mm vs inches, cells that contain several bits of information that needs to be extracted into their own cell/column. Some have date formats in what should be number/fraction formats......
Well you can understand my dilemma. We would like to combine all of this data into a single spreadsheet. Right now, I do it manually and would like a more "automated" system.
If you or you know of someone who might be of help, please let me know. It would also be nice if you could include some kind of ballpark estimate for a job like this. The program can be either for a pc or a Mac.
