At such an insulting rate you'll either end up with a script kiddy causing you more problems, or a job that takes 10 times longer than it should just to get the money up to a reasonable standard.

I was talking with a freind from india who says entery level engineers make $250 us per month there. Can anyone confirm this? If I am way off base please let me know. As far as getting what you pay for, yes I agree to a certain point. Wepage programminbg takes lots of time. I am willing to work with someone who is a bit slow but wants to work!

i am indian but now based in toronto, its true if u have base in india
but u will lot of problems getting work done from there as they are far
so be realistic and atleast pay $10-$15 to get uar work done in decent manner

Ashish you are wrong what you are saying, there every kind of people in each country, so you cant give a country rank after reviwing few peoples. I am from India and has been in this area for more then 5 years and whole bunch of new customers who are fully satisfied with my work for years. So dont say anything about a country as a whole, and as you are too from this country, this proves you are not stable and next you can blamce your current countru too after a shor time when u leave

Would you do your job for $2 an hour just because that's all somebody wanted to pay you? Or would you send them packing to try and find some sucker who would do it for that amount? I think we all know what your answer would be.

And what makes you think that anybody in India is going to sell themselves that cheaply? Do some research, even the most pared down rates from 'developing' countries is still $8-$9 US per hour. You pay the market rate, not what you can afford or what you think is appropriate.

If you're stuck on only paying $2 an hour for such an important part of your business then I would suggest checking out local schools and seeing if any kids there want some extra pocket money.

If you are looking for something dirt cheap, I have some templates I worked on from past websites I can sell you. My time's important, so customization and future support will not be free, of course. Email me if you are interested.

PS:
I would also consider something different the MS Access. Its actually more difficult to work with and costs alot more. Try Interbase or MySQL for Windows. Also, I will be very weary of $2/hr. Indian programmers. You get what you pay for.

Yes, it is a skill people spend years learning and perfecting. That is why it is so expensive. Would you expect Doctors or Lawyers or any other educated, intelligent professional to work for such wages? Better yet would you even trust going to a doctor or lawyer that charged such an amount?


It's your application, why don't you learn how to do it and you wouldn't have to pay someone else?

Firstly, I find your plea for "Cheap" labor insulting and so should any other programmer/developer who has spent years learning and perfecting their skills.

Secondly, Your blatant attempt to exploit the skills of programmers from other countries is offensive. Their skills are no less valuable than the skills of american programmers.

Lastly, I have been a programmer for over 5 years. I also teach programming to college students part-time. I get paid very well for what I do, simply because I am very good at it. The more knowledge required to perform the job, the more the job should cost (Lawyers aren't cheap, neither are doctors).

I find it absolutely irritating that individuals such as yourself, are blatantly trying to devalue the skills, we as programmers, have taken years to perfect. Simply by trying to get something for "Virtually" nothing.

I'm sure you will probably find someone to do you work for $2/hr, but it won't be on this forum.

Wow, you folks are tough. I was simply looking into this based on refrence from an india girl I know. I wanted to see if I could find someone to do it for $2 and I guess I got my answer. Although I have not seen any Indian folks really posting.
Ok, yes I can learn more and do it my self. Time is key, I do not have much of it so the learning curve is tough. I do not undervalue the programming skill. If I can get an new engineer in india for $2/hour then that is what the rate is. If your telling me i need to pay $10/hr to an engineer in india then I guess i am way off base and forgive me! And just so you know, it feels like i work for $2.hr after im done with all the F-In taxs here in the states. God help us if kerry gets in....
