Script (mixed?) help needed - Read Inside
Originally posted by : Paolo (info@trawell.com)
Hello,

although quite expert on software but not being a programmer I would like to
submit the need I am having towards a possible solution for my startup hosted
website. Pls send an estimate. If it is reasonable it would be a headache less for
me and not having to learn all from 0. I can consider also i.e. giving some
webspace in return for visibility.

The scenario is: domain hosted on webhoster NT/2K server and their password
protection based on DAF
(maybe relevant link: http://support.dafweb.com/kb.asp?id=31).

What I thought automatic and it is not is what I would like to solve:

- Upon the password/user pair and/or group used the user to be redirected,at will,
to a specific html page - possibly relying on a plain text external database file.

- Possibility - maybe through the above external database file - to "map" to each
user/pwd a "fancy Surname, name, Firm description" that would be used on the
landing page ("Welcome Dear Mr X Y of firm Z...")

- The log record of number of accesses/timestamp/IP of succesful logons

- Possibly the block of people coming from specific IP's/domains

- The automatic log (email?) of (maybe after 3) unsuccesful attempts to logon
with IP etc

- The solution should be portable to the maximum extent (that's why text database)
but sufficiently secure and reliable on Netscape, IE, Opera. Therefore not necessarily
Asp based (Cgi, Javascript, Perl or what can do thesolution).

- The webhoster gives a cgi support with a sendmail.asp and a counter and
that's it

If anyone can reasonably solve my problem (maybe it's a 2 second matter for
someone) please do email

Regards

Paolo
