A Little help please with excel

I am Tryint o create an inventory in excel and wish to eliminate alot of the input needed to keep up to date. I produce what are called kits, and ea. kit requires several different pieces and labels. what i would like to do is have them all listed in (kit) catagories and when a number of kits is made I can input that number and have it show the proper amount of pieces used to make that kit(s) with out inputting ea individual item. I have been to several websites and looked through several books,asked lots of people but all i get is "just keep trying" or I don't think you can do that. It makes me want to chew their head off

. If any one understands What i am trying to do could you please help. or please ask me to explain it better. Thanks
