Excel Help PLEASE!

Dear all,

As i do not have any programming experience, i am trying to make an excel sheet which will have the following features:

It will be a rating system basically, a sort of questionnaire, something like the feedback system ebay uses.
I need to assign weights to each answer (5 for each question) and after the completion of the form i need a total in percentage. Also if possible, i would like all those data to be stored in a log file or database.

If anyone knows any formula to do the above things i would be in debt as i have to do that really quickly for my dissertation. I appreciate any help or tip.
Thanks in advance.

Regards
Vasilis

Well the obvious question to ask is how will you weight this? What are the criteria that determine the weight of the answer? Is there a dropdown menu that people can pick from? If so, you could weight each of the options, but if you are looking at freeform entries, you will not be able to automate this process.

Also, you can export the data into a database. Access and SQL both have methods for this, but without knowing the requirements, I can't give you much guidance.

One last thing - who will be inputting the data? Do you have the data in another format and then you will input it into Excel? The reason I ask is that Excel is a single-user interface typically. This means that this is not the ideal solution if you need multiple users to have access to it at the same time.

Thank you Lauramc for your answer. I will try to explain the process a little bit further hoping to make you understand my problem:
I am going to have 3 or 4 questions regarding the collaboration between companies. The weight of each question (and therefore answer) will be pre-determined based on my criteria. Let's say that i need each the question to be weighted equally, thus 33,33% or 25% each. the answers will be given to a scale from 1 to 5 or using a more descriptive form where 1 represent absolutely unsatisfied where 5 will represent absolutely satisfied.
Also if possible i would love to have button to be associated with those scales.
Therefore after the evaluation of each question (in which will be an assigned rating) i need to have the total average in form either percentage or of a 1-5 scale. I am not so much worried about making it stand, cause i'm more concerned with the theoretical part. I just want to demonstrate a working weighted rating system (or reputation mechanism if you will) either in excel or any other software its possible. Please note my inexperience at programming. I hope i gave you a better understanding of my problem.
Any help is deeply appreciated. Thanks
