illustrator font issues

illustrator font issues

i recently switched from pc to mac. (powerbook g4) for illustrator 10 i noticed that the fonts provided on pc are much more than those offered on mac. i thought this might be a pc-mac issue but i noticed on my other pc that the same fonts were missing. is there any way of getting the full list of fonts when i use my mac? it's frustrating knowing that illustrator has more fonts than i have access to right now. thanks.
