problem: processes running on the server for extended periods

Hi. I host sites and only for one client I rented space on a windows server. He has lts of ASP scripts, connected to an access database. Just recently, I have received the following mail of the technicians of he server. As ASP is not my thing, I do't know however if they point me in the right direction.

They wrote: "Please advise your client that they have processes running on the server for extended periods."

Is the time out set too high or are the scripts not terminating where they should or is it something different?

The site seemed to have been running fine for a long time you see, so the client is asking me if this couldn't be just because of the server. I don't thinks so, I guess the server must be more busy and now the faults are visible, but I don't *know* it. This is where I'd like help from you people. By just telling me if the mail I got seems okay and what are we to do? Should we rent an asp programmerto fix this? (The original programmers have dissappeared.)

Thanks for reading this,

Lex

Message of server technician:

Please advise your client that they have processes running on the server for extended periods. In most cases, this is an abuse of the server and takes up valuable resources that cannot be further utilized by others on the server, and can also result in high server loads. In this particular case, it is causing the web services to crash. If need be, they can monitor these processes at [URL. This site has been suspended on the server until the proper parties are notified (your client?), and are prepared to address the issue.

Hi

I suggest you ask your ISP for further information. If they can give you an example script that you can post here, the forum members can suggest how to speed it up

MK

Thanks for your answer.

Out of their mail, I've cut two lines:

X 10:36:22.672 - - 145 132 Preproc headers 195.93.102.4 60771 0 ns 0 un 288 GET http://www.profilmode.com/jobs/search.asp
X 10:36:51.660 - - 116 144 Preproc headers 80.8.51.94 60880 0 ns 0 un 288 GET http://www.profilmode.com/front/cv_som.asp

I'll add both files as a .zip with this message.

If somebody would like to see more just let me know...

I don't have a clue what the problem is to be honest. (Are the scripts running longer than they should?)

Thanks a lot!

Lex
