I have been asked to create a program that scans for a virus,detects the virus and removes it,it also has to scan the boot sector.I am very new to programming so this is a big task for me especially that i cannot find anything of any use to me, i am a beginner of java and c++ could anybody tell me how to attempt this or provive some information to me.

First you need to know the name of the virus, where it is in the directory heirarchy, where it writes it's registry entries if it does and what needs to be done to clean it.

Then just take it step by step...If you know the name and where it is, then use the appropriate programming object to locate that directory and look for that file name, etc...
