signtee.slashdesigns.com -- First time posting my site.....
Hey guys, I am doing some work for a client and I would like to know your honest thoughts.
It is STILL a WORK IN PROGRESS, so be gentle. A lot of the text is just filler and there are obvious things missing (flash objects, etc). This site has really made me work on my conditional asp statements quite a bit. My code is messy but functional (isn't that the point anyways, just for the finished product to work?) Anyways, let me know your thoughts! be gentle....... http://signtee.slashdesigns.com Last edited by Shadow Wizard : August 7th, 2007 at 09:54 AM. Reason: added [url] tags around link. |

I quite like it
![]() Just one thing, you are allowing users to enter nothing into the text boxes in the order and contact us form, maybe just check if the user submits data before sending, and also check for valid email address on the contact us form.

Looks good. Just a couple of points.
I would change the mouseover colour on the top links as they're a bit dark to see against the background. In your FAQ's under flute direction you have "We print sings for use " I assume this should be signs. Also "...and can be easily place into the ground." Change place for placed. I would maybe lighten up the text backgrounds slightly to make it a little easier to read. I found the black lettering on the dark grey background (Signs and FAQs) a little hard to read. Hope that helps.

The text was a direct copy from what my client had sent me, most of it (as you have found) will require a ton of editing. THanks for the advice on the backgrounds, I will look into it! THanks! |

Here are a couple of things...
1. I would add some sort of sign/tshirt/etc preview, so they can visualize what their sign looks like. 2. I would give the user the ability to select colors and text fonts if this is possible. It would add value to the service. 3. Does the site validate if a user does not have javascript enabled? 4. The contact us page, the textboxes don't line up. I would make each value on its own row. Looking good though. |

nice design. light and simple.
I would make the logo (logo.gif) link to the homepage, that's very common thing in many websites. also, while adding client side validation to forms is not essential it's pretty important and make the website look more professional. ![]() also, when submitting some form, I would expect some kind of response from the server: either thank you message indicating success, or some message saying what went wrong or what I was missing. |

Any ways make use of good color combination and give more content.Ok.Keep it up. ![]() Last edited by Shadow Wizard : July 6th, 2008 at 09:17 AM. Reason: removed signature |

Shadow is right, your logo should link back to the homepage.
Second, you really should clean up the contact us form. Align the form elements a little better. Compared to the rest of the site, it's not very aesthetically pleasing. Otherwise the design looks ok. Perhaps more importantly, the site has very poor (basically non-existent) semantic structure. Web sites should not be using table-based layouts plain and simple. That's a thing of the past and is largely considered bad design. You're also using and image-based design. This greatly increases load times and in your case, is virtually unnecessary since 90% of your design can be accomplished very easily using CSS. Finally, your site is not search engine friendly. You're not using META tags, alt attributes are non-descriptive and even missing, and the site doesn't validate with its provided DOCTYPE. I don't mean to burst your bubble or be harsh, but while the site may "look" good, under the hood there is still much work to be done to this site.
