http://www.getogethersafe.com
Interested in opinions of our site at: http://getogethersafe.com
re. design, ease of use, and maneuverability. Some of the things that you will see on the site are minimal to what you see when you join it, as a paying member - so, you might wish to keep that in mind. A 15 day trial is available, though, so, you should be able to see everything if you fill out a profile. Some of the things to note there, are: The site emphasizes safety when dating. The email system is quite extensive, allowing clients to receive notifications, when they receive a scam in their email, from another party. The site allows for background checks, re. child molestors (free), and married people for a cost of $5.00, as well as criminal background checks (will be up in a few days - $15.00 National check). It's also very inexpensive to join ($9.95 mo.) and it promotes interactivity amongst clients - which allows them to find out how the person would respond, given a normal situation with a "prospective other". Tickets to meet each other are at reduced rates, and a way to meet each other safely, is provided. The email system allows the clients to send flirts, rejection notices, and chat invitations, as well as acceptance/rejections, for the chat. A blogging system is available on the site, as well as a forum which allows clients to tell their horror/phenominal dating stories to each other. An E-card system is in the process of being built, that allows them to send each other virtual e-cards, without knowing the other person's email address. Gifts and flowers can be purchased on the site, again, without knowing where someone lives. A music and video area is available, that allows them to have fun, together. Software and games, will also be provided for clients soon. There's a great deal more, of course, but you can see it for yourself. ![]() Thanks, appreciate any and all responses. Jasmine |

Looks good... but uses tables, is inaccessible
But I know you've used a template, so thats cheating Why the animated GIF logo? Why the clashing pink colour scheme? ...Its even missing a Doctype dec ...And this is a "web application" you pay money to use? *ha!* |

Actually, we originally started with a template, but have since converted that template to our own work. What do you mean it's inaccessible? Why not the logo? What clashing pink color? The Join button?
OK, what's a doctype dec? Jasmine Quote:

Viewing the page with all style information removed renders it useless, noone using a screenreader or other "accessible software" can read the pages on your site Quote:
Animated GIFs on pages are a big "no-no", for multiple reasons I need not spell out for you, they should be quite clear. Compare your site to something done by Shaun Inman or Eric Meyer*, you'll notice the difference Quote:
...Pink NEVER goes with dark-blue. I recommend you do a crash course in colour theory. Quote:
Document-Type Declaration A line of code that tells the UA what code schema you are using so it can render it appropriatley. The Gecko, Opera, and Trident IV engines all render your site in "quirks mode" due to a lack of any doctype I may remind you that this section is a review of sites made by people, especilly those relating to ASP Your site wasn't made by you, you ripped a template. Whatsmore, your site uses PHP, this should belong on DevShed's PHP forums. Shaun Inman and Eric Meyer are both well-respected gods of CSS and Standards Compliance, check their pages at: http://www.shauninman.com and http://www.meyerweb.com respectivly |

Actually, we didn't "Rip a template" we paid for the initial program and altered it, tremendously, with the permission of the maker of the program. What you're seeing is only the first page, obviously. Since then, we've added hundreds of hours of programming to it. Hmm...I thought our site was light blue, but, ok. The only thing pink, is the join button. So, I have to assume you mean that. I'll check into some of the other things you mentioned and thanks for the opinion.

very HTML 101. I personally would be hesitant to join because it seems like someone in their basement made it rather than a company that could actually link people to one another. I don't know, I think it's just pretty poor. I don't even know what I'm looking at on it. Don't mean to be negative. Nothing positive to say.

how come some pages open in a new window and some don't? Also the shopping cart needs a major CSS overhaul. The colors are rough on the eyes. That a modified version of OSCommerce?
