Unhappy please review www.broncotatonka.com

This is the website of an up-and-coming rock band that I'm lending a hand to at the moment. I didn't write it or design it so you won't hurt my feelings with an objective critique of everything (coding, design, layout, etc.) You may hurt somebody else's feelings when I pass on the comments tho ... lol

I already have noted the following problems:

6 validation errors stemming from bad quotation marks in some of the attributes
Rife with spelling errors
Links to questionable sites on the posted board (I am going to take care of this problem in short order
Need to add hyperlinks for venues, directions, etc.
Need to update much more regularly.

Thanks and let 'er rip.

I'm not sure I like the inline frame on: updates.html. It starts down too low in my opinion and that means scrolling.

I think that the graphics are decent for a band and I even downloaded some of the songs to listen to (some I liked), which is a good feature especially for a band.

The forum could use the same menu at the top of the page. Other then that I think you got the other problems covered.

Thanks for the suggestions and the basically upbeat response. I've been adding links for the last 24 hours or so and I like it better already. I just bought Adobe Photoshop 7 to modify the JPG background - it's pretty daunting. Wish me luck!

You may be a rank amateur, bit I think that is a GREAT site beginning. Your navigation is fresh, and the black and white art is edgy and clean.

The technical part will work its way out, but keep up the good work.

Rickster - thanks for the kind words. I can't take credit for any of the design - I'm just the 'janitor'. I'll pass on your feedback to the designer.

Now here's a question or series of questions that maybe belongs on this forum, or maybe not, but I'll ask it anyway. Should a band have all its songs available on its website? Or all its songs except for those from its most recent CD, to give people an inducement to buy the CD? Does it matter whether it's an unsigned band such as Bronco Tatonka is at the moment, where they really have nothing to lose by making everything freely available? Or perhaps I'm being naive - perhaps the tracks become free so quickly anyway because of the CD ripping software out there that it doesn't really matter from a commercial standpoint whether they post the songs or not. Any thoughts?

Thanks again.

rank,

If they can't buy the CD off the site, what other option is there?

I listened to a couple tracks - too influenced by Janes Addiction and Zepplin in for my tastes. . . But, nonetheless, I would offer a track listing and maybe 4 or 5 of the most popular songs.

Having all the tracks up does mean that someone out there that might have bought the CD is now not going to. But as a small band they should focus on the live show CD sales.

Just my $0.02...

Good luck!

Dave

The other option - this huge record label contract that they are going to sign any day now! >: )

OK, thanks for the feedback. By the way, if you have it in you to go back one last time, please listen to the song "Demonic Prophecies" if you haven't already. It's some of their newer stuff co-written by the newest band member.

Nice site. I'd definately add some roll over activity to the "UPDATES | MEDIA | LYRICS | POSTED | PRINT | CONTACT" nav bar though...
