Your left-hand navigation is great. Good animated rollover images, clean layout of links. I might suggest adding a little variety in your content layouts of the pages though. Not just regular formatted or bolded text. Experiment with some different fonts (saved as images, i.e. category headers), throw in some photos. Check out some magazines you like, and attempt to recreate their layout.
