Seacoastcommunityvalues.com Site Review
Hi All,
Would like your comments on this site. I'm still working on it. Eventually, I'll need to put a new face on it. It's a print coupon site. My concerns are mostly how it works on safari, firefox and opera. It should work fine in IE. seacoastcommunityvalues.com |

1) Very yellow
2) You don't validate the data the user enters to ensure it is in the correct format, such as an email address. Your "Support" form doesn't even require the user to enter anything in the fields in order for the form to be submitted. 3) If you enter data on a form and forget to fill in a field all the previous data you entered is gone. This is very irritating from a consumer perspective. If I take the time to enter data and forget a field, I shouldn't have to reenter all that data again. |

The sea coast community banner is blocking out all content in FF.
Why don't you download and install the other browsers on your machine???????? |

Thank you for taking the time to look at the site and for your feedback!
Sorry for taking so long in posting back. I've been ear deep in other projects and time available in most areas is short. RChicken, your right, the site is very very yellow. I'll be toning it down. Memnoch, jo'nh@jo'hn.com never got his autoresponder email. At my client's request, the entire site was written in notepad without using any cut and paste code, javascript, activex, applets, client-side scripting of any sort, etc. ... all for the purpose of avoiding any copyright problems or dependencies on browser settings. And they wanted it up fast. So I was focused more on the control panels and the cycling functions working properly. You're right about the fields being empty when you return to the form. And that is another thing I'll be addressing as well as the proper formatting of data. pws1970, for a few years now I haven't had to worry about browsers other than IE. And I was greatful for that, since putting to rest the cross-browser issues between IE and netscape before opera came along and dealing with constant upgrades of the different browsers. I was able to tweek the site with the help of a friend. So now it should work pretty well in safari and firefox. I found that about 90% of the problems I was having with those two browsers was the use of the css rule position:... and also fixed height for containers (divs) in firefox. Once I got grid of the position rules and I changed div heights to auto they look almost as they do on IE. The div height wasn't so much of an issue in safari. Well I think the css thing would probably be better discussed in a different forum. But I thought I'd mention some of the things that I saw were causing problems with the site on those browsers. Mainly what was happening was that the banner was covering over some of the content on the pages. Again, thanks for your looks and comments! |
