Seeking "Manhattanesque" site designs
G'day,
I'm seeking sites -- any sites at all that come to mind -- that might serve as an inspiration for my own company site(s), the design for which I am outsourcing. I'm looking for something professional, corporate, "Manhattanesque" -- rational in design, efficient in structure, without superfluous, unnecessary elements of any kind, a cognitive oasis, if you would, and created with the fullest regard for the purpose of these site(s) -- its form following its function. The kind of site Howard Roark (points if you know the reference! ) would love to visit. My firm will be offering web services, including: hosting; design; domain registration; support (via live chat and a ticket system) for certain web-based applications; etc. The theme I'm seeking may well inform the eventual design of all sites of my company, from the central one to the smallest subdivision. Your input is appreciated. Thanks! Lyceum (John) |

A web-design firm is asking around on a messageboard primarily inhabited by 14 yearold ASP beginners for "good" site designs? *falls of chair* ...That's really pushing it y'know *cough* http://www.csszengarden.com *cough* |

And is the opinion of a 14-year old necessarily any less valuable than that of one thirty years his/her senior?
Now sure, it likely will depend on the individual we're speaking of -- but I would certainly not disqualify the opinion of anyone -- even one considerably younger than 14 -- with a blanket exclusion, without inquiry into that which informs his/her opinion.Lyceum (John Rearden) |

This forum is "Site reviews forum discussing your web site to be evaluated by our community users. Gain solid recommendations on areas of improvement by design and development experts". If you want design work doing, you might get a better response in the "Programmers for Hire" or "ASP Free Lounge" forums

Good day Mike,
Thanks for the suggestion! Although a lounge concerning ASP (which I understand in layman's terms relates to providing computer-related services to customers over a network, if this is indeed correct) wouldn't be something I would pursue at first blush (though further review of the actual content of that forum might alter this initial impression), the "Programmers for Hire" area certainly might have value in the context of finding talent designer(s) for either this project or for others. Yet my intent with this particular post was not to secure a programmer but rather to gain more general recommendations from individuals perhaps extensively familiar with site review, and thus perhaps with considerable exposure to various sites/themes/styles/designs, to get their recommendations -- and benefit from this expertise -- in the context of what I am looking for. Nevertheless, your suggestion is appreciated, and I may indeed one day post to that other forum, to see what I might find there. Be well. Lyceum (John) |
