connection error

Originally posted by : venkat (venkat_karnati@hotmail.com)
Hi guys,
We are developing a web site using ASP and SQL server. In our home page our registered users can login to the system by using their username and password.when user types in username and password
and clicks the GO button, this two values are validated in the database and allows the user to login to the system. If this two values are incorrect, we are displaying a error message below this two input boxes.Till this point every thing is ok and smooth.
Our database server and web server are located at different place than the development center. If the SQL server is down for some reason, we could not able to display any error message to our users.
I want to catch this event by using ADO object.
Can any body tell me, is there any methods in ADO to catch the connection between front end and back end.
I want to display the error message in a alert box.

thanks in advance
veera
