T-SQL 'PRINT' Statement / Multiple Recordsets

I've got a SP which returns information back in the following format (when viewed as Text in SQL7' Query Analyzer) ...

PIN = xxxyyy OWNER = Paul blaaar
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
callerCLI vp line datetimejoined
-------------------- ---------- ----------- ---------------------------
TISGVP006 26 2003-01-20 14:03:09.300
TISGVP008 53 2003-01-20 14:07:34.193
0208xxxyyyy TISGVP008 22 2003-01-20 14:08:45.430

-------------------------------END-------------------------------------
PIN = aaabbb OWNER = Peter Klaaaaar
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
callerCLI vp line datetimejoined
-------------------- ---------- ----------- ---------------------------
0208xxxyyyy TISGVP002 46 2003-01-20 13:24:59.723
01306aaabbb TISGVP002 28 2003-01-20 13:26:57.677

-------------------------------END-------------------------------------

Yet when I view it in GRID format it returns 3 seperate tabbed 'panes'
Results Grid #1, Results Grid #2, and Messages

Results Grid #1 shows
TISGVP006 26 2003-01-20 14:03:09.300
TISGVP008 53 2003-01-20 14:07:34.193
0208xxxyyyy TISGVP008 22 2003-01-20 14:08:45.430

Results Grid #2 shows
0208xxxyyyy TISGVP002 46 2003-01-20 13:24:59.723
01306aaabbb TISGVP002 28 2003-01-20 13:26:57.677

Messages shows
PIN = xxxyyy OWNER = Paul blaaar
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------END-------------------------------------
PIN = aaabbb OWNER = Peter Klaaaaar
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

When I try to display this info on an .ASP page using the SP, all I get returned is the contents of Results Grid #1 - anybody got any idea why ?

Because ADO only grabs the first SELECT query that is returned. You would need to split up the stored procedure into 3 separate requests, or rewrite the stored procedure so that it returns only one result set. The key is in that you are returning 3 separate grids. It needs to be only one.

dotNetBB Forum Developer
Building A Better Community, One Post At A Time
www.dotnetbb.com
