Suggestion for new vB Code: [pre] and [/pre] tags... whatever inside those delimeters (including other pre tags or any other vB Codes), will be displayed as-is, html-formatted, like code inside code tags.
this would allow to tell newbie something like this: --- please wrap your code with [pre][ code] and [ /code][/pre] tags --- without needing the blank spaces that might confuse. also, it would allow displaying unicode characters code like ⃑ ( &# 8401; ) without having it converted to the unicode character. thanks, hope it's possible to implement! ![]() |

Why? Isn't that what [code][/code] tags are for...?

you missed my point... if you put vB code inside code tags, they're parsed as vB code and not shown as-is. currently, we can't write [ code] and [ /code] without blank space, as it would be interpretted as code tags. [pre] is like "super" tag...
edit: just noticed... how did you write without having them translated?? maybe there's already something that I'm simply not aware of. ![]() Last edited by Shadow Wizard : August 25th, 2005 at 05:46 PM. |

Majik.
![]() Nah, seriously, it's quite easy. Type in: [code[color=Black]][[/color]/code] |

testing...
please use [code] and [/code] tags. whoa, cool! nice trick Chief. but still, you must admit it's not very elegant. having something like [pre] would make it lot easier!! |

Not really, it'd be just the same amount of effort [if not more].
What would be cool would be if there wsa nothing between the start and end tags then they wouldn't be parsed, but if there is something there, they would be parsed. See what I mean. So if you typed [code] and [/code] it would be parsed, and show like: Code:
and THe admins said they are working on something big at the min, so this would be well low on the list, but still a cool thing. ![]() |

the admins are always working on something big - that one reason why those forums are so good!!
![]() (in sharp contrast with forums like asp101 which don't have active admins, thus they die slowly but surely) |
