Annoying ad
please get rid of the test complete ad, with the little fly flying around. It is very annoying, and visually distracting.
Just a suggestion.

I'm sure if you are willing to pay the same amount to have it removed, as the advertiser is paying to have it displayed, the people that run this site might consider it.
Just an FYI, it's ads like this that keep this forum FREE. I'm sure they would remove all the ads, if you and others are willing to pay for your membership to this forum. |

lol,.. i have to agree with sbenj on the case that its annoying,.. Although one of the worst i've seen was on a guitarist site which i used,.. It was of a Bee flying around "sound included" buuuuuuzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Now that was annoying and the only way to shut the dam thing up was to turn the volumn off or kill the bee ![]() On they other hand Memnoch, i usually agree totally with most of your comments but we must remember it's the members that keep this site going,.. without them ads are relatively useless. If the ad get's gains the site revenue through clicks,.. i'd doubt its profitable,.. looks like a spyware trap to me.. |

I'll have to agree with sbenj on this one. Ads like this can potentially deter regular visitors who might find it too distracting. It's one thing to get the viewer's attention...but it's a whole other thing to irritate the piss outta them.

You guys have to remember something...
1) 5 years ago or so there was very little advertising on this site, but as it grew (into what it is now), there was an obvious potential to make money off of all the traffic the site was generating. 2) This is only one of many forums/sites managed by the company that runs it. The company is in business to make money. 3) Money drives everything.... 4) It's the advertising that keeps the site free to users. Personally, I don't even pay attention to the ads anymore. I know they make the company money...which raises the question, since the company is making more money why didn't it send Christmas gift certificates this year...or maybe they did and I just wasn't on the list this time...anyway...the ads serve to make the company money, that money helps them with the costs of running this and other sites. As long as the site is free, I'll be here. But I won't pay to be a member of a site, when my position on the site is a moderator meant to help other users. If the ads were removed and the site became a pay site, membership and actual user attendance would fall dramatically... |

I agree with that, Memnoch, but given the fact that this site has a large user base, advertisers actually WANT to advertise here. Having said that, ASP Free shouldn't have any issues with putting restrictions on the types of ads, the content, or anything else related to how the ads are displayed.
For example, Codango aka ASPIN aka 411AspNet, etc...has certain restrictions: Quote:
Because ASP Free as some pull due to its massive user base, they should have no problem implementing such rules. Besides, this place is looking cluttered and very unprofessional. Just look at the top 4-500 pixels of this page. Way too much going on up there and the ignorant ads don't help at all. Just my two cents though... |

Since ads pay the bills, there really isn't much to complain about, it's what keeps this place free.
You know it can be like that place that charges membership, but who's willing to pay for something they can get free here <clarification> Help </clarification> ![]()
