OK Ill take a look at the awards but I must tell you I am intimately familar with how they all work and I am pretty satisfied with the way everything is calculated. We wont make it based on rep or make a rep minimum in order to get a award because I think its cool a new user can get a award, and it adds incentive to get new users to become more active. New posts, threads, replies all count towards your total for top poster (poster isnt just new threads)

So Ill look at it, but Im not going to promise anything

literally asking us to do his job, does not deserve to be
Top Member. those who help him, they deserve such reward.

and those roaming the Lounge and keeping it alive.

certainly not...new members that contribute definitely....new members that just ask questions constantly...definitely not

No way to differentiate that boys and girls

A post is a post, a reply is a reply as far as the scripts that tabulate it are concerned. And I certainly do not have the time to manually differentiate bet the two

I have to agree with JC on this one, fellas. I think that basing an award on a minimum rep requirement is a very bad idea. It disqualifies too many up and coming members.

Also, unless I'm mistaken, Top Member takes into account positive reputation received over the last month.

Finally, what difference does it make whether a user is asking a question or answering one? You need both to generate a discussion, and that folks, is what we do here. To be honest, we need more of both.

I'm pretty happy with the system the way it is now as well. There's only so many ways to crunch these numbers and we've got a pretty solid program here. I can tell you for a fact that there has been much time spent tweaking and perfecting it. I was there for some of it, and I think that the admin staff has done quite nicely with it.

The only thing I can think of is that it might be cool to display a username at the top of each forum for the most activity. It could be a simple post count for the previous month. Not so much an award, but it might be interesting to see who's where.

of messages then this whole system is total nonsense.
it makes fun of those who do have it.

anyhow.. I'm done ranting about it. just wanted to share my opinion,
I'm sad there's no solution and since it's all just a game it's no big deal.

We do the best we can here - the system isnt perfect, life isnt perfect. The awards we have here most forums dont have anywhere. It is an additional 'treat' if you will - and just like reputation it isnt a stand alone indication of how helpful a person is but reputation, along with awards, along with time on the forums, all of these things COMBINED give you a very good sense of who is worth listening to here and who isnt. Sorry if this answer isnt to your satisfaction.
