This site's content genre encompasses all Microsoft technologies and Windows development. It only makes sense that the forum site should support that same content base.

I think an office development forum would be great. I know I would contribute and ask in an Excel forum as I deal with Excel on a daily basis... inlcuding writing macros and using built-in functions in Excel. Just my $0.02.

Lewy, i think the idea of forum is to share knowledge.
So there is nothing wrong if we spread our wings more and reach for more topics. |

I've written a number of .vbs routines scheduled to run at various times of the month that use Excel.Application to create spreadsheets, populate them with data from our web-based, ASP/.NET driven, MySQL database and then save and email them to various users.
They give you so much more control over a spreadsheet than just changing the content type in a browser (fairly obviously, I know, but still... ) and they also require slightly different programming to VBA macros etc. like having none of the constants (xlthin, xlthick etc.) so you then have to substitute them for 1,2 etc. I'm building up a bit of a reference as I use them...![]() I'm waffling now, but I think there is a definite correlation between ASP/.NET and using VBA. They all require programming and I'd also add that, in Excel at least, if you have a complicated formula, it's often easier to write a function that does everything "behind the scenes", which can also be written in VBA. Then you just call it as you would any of the built-in functions. I'm certainly still a novice at it, but I've picked up the basic syntax of programming and would probably be able to help out a little. Maybe it would be worth doing a bit of google research to see what other sites are out there?

That's the general feel that I get from visiting this site: technical help for Microsoft products. Quote:
I'm okay with this. Who knows where I would be today if it weren't for products like Windows, Active Server Pages, etc. I might have ended up as a cartoon animator as I originally planned. Instead, I have a much more rewarding lifestyle due to Microsoft products being introduced into my life. ![]()

I've been busy for a few days (doing a little real work, for a change!), so missed all the agitation that I guess I stirred up. Anyway, I just had to say that I have a genetic predisposition to avoid spreadsheets--they are EVIL and cause cancer!!!
