Why can't I change my signature/avatar?

Until you have been a member at the forums for 90 days and made 100 posts, you will be a restricted user.
This means that you will be unable to:

* Create a signature to appear at the bottom of your posts;
* Upload an avatar for use in your profile;
* Change your user title to any custom text.
* Add visible comments to posts (your comments will remain hidden, available only to the original poster).
* Post in the shoutbox on the forums index.

On a separate note, please be aware that signatures will only appear once per page, per thread.


What's this "view warnings" thing?

Developer Shed has implemented a warning system to make things simpler for both moderator and user alike.
You will be warned for misbehaving (posting spam, having offensive or inappropriate content in your avatar or signature, or posting unacceptable content such as vlugar language or abusing another member), and each warning gives you 5 points. When you reach ten points, your account is temporarily banned (the ban lasts for seven days).
If you continue to misbehave your account will be banned for progressively longer periods of time until one of our moderators decides that your presence on these forums is longer required, and you will henceforth be permanently banned.
These warnings persist for a maturity time of 90 days. That is to say, if you receive one warning but do not get banned, the warning will vanish from your account after a 90-day period.
For each warning you recieve, you will automatically be sent a PM and an email with a summary of why you were warned and what action was taken (were you simply warned? Or were you temporarily or permanently banned?)


Confusion over "Viewing Your Warnings" page

On the forums index page you will see a link to View Your Warnings. When you click this, the page is divided into two sections.
The first section (titled "Viewing Warning Information For username") shows you the warnings that you have received from the moderators or administrators. For most users, this will probably be blank. If there is anything in this section then you should know about it anyway, since when you are warned you will receive an email/PM.
The second section (titled "Warning Types") shows you the types of warnings that are available. This does NOT mean that you have received all these warnings - it only shows you what types of warnings are available that you can receive should you break any rules.


Reputation / Comments System

At the top right of every post you will see a new icon () which allows you to provide reputation for that user's post. Clicking the icon allows you to post a comment and state whether you approve or disapprove. As long as you are a full user (i.e. you have 100 posts and have been a member for 90 days), this will then be publicly available for everyone to see and will appear directly underneath the post as a comment. A box titled "Comments on this post" will appear, with a list of users who agree/disagree.
All full users have a certain reputation power. This depends on the number of posts they have, the reputation they have received themselves and how long they have been a member etc. When you approve of a post, you can increase the poster's reputation up to the number of reputation points you have. If you disagree with their post, their reputation points can be decrease by half the number of reputation points you have.
If you are not yet a full user (i.e. you do not have 100 posts and have not been a member for 90 days) you will not have any reputation power until you have at least 50 posts. While you can still comment on posts, your comments will not be publicly available and zero rep will not alter the poster's reputation points. The comments you make will only be visible to the poster in their user control panel.
Every time you agree or disagree with a post, your comment will appear in their user control panel. Each comment will either have a green icon (to show that the user agreed with your post), a red icon (to show that the user disagreed with your post) or a grey icon (where the reputation points given was zero).
Everyone starts with 10 points and one green icon associated with their profile. As they gain (or lose) points, their total increases or decreases and the number of green icons next to their profile changes. The more green icons there are, the more the user is respected in the forum.
You can find out your current reputation level from your Control Panel. If you scroll to the bottom, you will see a "Latest Reputation Received" section, where you can find out your current reputation level and view the most recent comments posted about you.

Am I allowed more than one account at ASP Free Forums?

No, there is no reason why you should have more than one account at ASP Free Forums. If you are banned from the forums, please do not create a new account. By creating a new account, you are making the banning/warning system pointless. Your new accounts will be permanently banned.

If you continue to create new accounts after you have been banned, your IP address may well be blocked from the forums. If you then start to register using different IP addresses, we reserve the right to take legal action against you. Using proxy servers will not get you anywhere.

1. Avatar - You can use any image as ur avatar , but u can do this when u cross 90 days and 100 posts in the forum!!
u can check user CP area to read it.

2. Belts - U begin with White belt and then with every 250 posts, ur belt is upgraded.

3. Rep Points - Every user has a certain rep power(explained below) with him/her, which he/she gives to anybody when they agree with their post; by clicking on the scales icon on the top of every post.

4. Rep Power - Ideally when u cross 50 posts, u r given a rep power of 1 to u, but thats not a compulsion. Then with each 1 year or 1000 posts or 100 rep points earned; ur rep power increases by 1.

but in all fairness, if someone spends time getting the answers to your question you should really put the time into what they have posted, even if it is long. Why should anyone bother replying otherwise!!
