Hi,
As an avid user of this fora it seems to be missing a 'blueprinting' forum. By this is mean rather than posting in say ASP ' i want to create a page that displays data like this..' it could be posted in the new forum for contributions on the best approach, rather than clogging up the forums currently. Just a thought. Smalls. |

I have no idea what you mean. if you can explain better it would be nice.
never heard of "blueprint forum" and can't imagine what it might mean. |

sorry, rather than people saying 'can you write the code to do this' they are encouraged to ask for help on the best way to approach a particular objective. for example i am rewriting my diabetic database which i record my blood results, currently it is a vertical table with date time etc for each result on seperate lines, it has been suggested by my nurse that the results be one line per day with the results listed on the one line. I have no clear idea of how to do this efficiently but would like to write the code, or try to, myself but need guidance on the best way to approach it. Smalls. |

so it's part of the "ordinary" ASP forum, assuming you're using ASP... I personally see
no need in separate forum for guidance and advices in ASP related things. actually, the main goal of the forums - all forums - is to guide and give advice, not giving full code. I tend to give code many times because I find it easier, or: "one line of code is worth 100 lines of explanation". ![]() |

here is another example of a post which isnt a related query to a particular technology.

Well that thread is still asp code related and if it is moved to a new forum, it might not get as many veiws and the chances of him being helped would probaly decrease |

I don't see much call for a blueprinting forum... for the most part, the person who would post in there already has a language in mind and therefore posting in the appropriate language forum would make more sense.

thanks for the comments, i was just seeing if the new forum would leave the technology forums for just that.
May as well close this thread. Smalls. Ps due to the concensus of this thread i have posted my 'help wanted' in the asp forum. |
