Problem solved
i would like to suggest to add a feature to close thread by specifying "problem solved". I am on another forum and that helps a lot for someone looking for a solution

In my opinion, closing a thread is not necessary!
If you have solved your problem, post the solution for others to see. There can b other people who face same problem and might ask some questions. |

Micky, we can still view closed threads, we just can't post in them. Which is the way it should be, anyway, to prevent old threads from being resurrected. New users will be forced to start their own thread if the solution the previous thread didn't work for them or they need more clarification. ![]()

You may have a point there, but most newbies cannot even use the tools correctly.
Tools such as the hyperlink button to reference a particular thread and such. And most newbies, just get their question answered and never come back ![]() So this wouldn't work either way. It should be structured in a way that it could be newbie proof ![]()

Not really, there could be some kind of scheduled stored procedure that can look up threads which haven't been closed
properly and if their inactivity (or unresolved) status is greater than say 30 days, then it can be deemed partially solved or something this would alert users that this thread might just give them an idea for solving their problem. I've always wanted to be able to mark threads as solved, unsolved, and partially solved. One can only wish ![]() |

Well, VB already does have a feature to find inactive threads and "prune" them, so I'd imagine they could modify it to simply close them and set status to solved. But that won't determine which answer in the thread was the "Correct" answer. I think someone suggested this in another thread in here, but I'm drawing a blank ![]() |

It'd be a cool addition if it could be implemented, this way as a newbie or just a visitor,
you could determine whether a thread is even worth looking at based on this system. I'd hate to go thru a 3+ page thread just to find out, that no one could get the right answer. I'm sure it's been mentioned before, but can't really remember what the outcome was. |
