Whats with all the ads

Hi

Is it just me ot have the number of advertising media done from 0 to 100 on this forum or is it just me.

I realise that nothing is for free and advertising is a good way to make money but I like this forum for its simplisity and what was a very unfussy site, now everywhere i look there is an ad, even the ads down the side and at the top I could cope with but not these horride picked out words which are double underlined, for me makes the whole thing harder to read, and since thats what people come here for it's a massive pain. Plus i think it makes the place look cheap and only after money. On top of which they go to useless places, I am sure most people using here already have a good knowledge of what they need in terms of hosting and if they get stuck they ask not click on a horride link forced on you, if they went to useful places it wouldn't be so bad, like html went to www.w3schools.com etc.

But thats only my view, enough of me ranting.

I'm confused... what's the poll got to do with the number of ads on the site?

lol sorry my main gripe is with the text (posts) being changed into a link so you click on it and it takes to another site, and i hate them and would like to see them proped.

This mainly possibly only happens when you are not signed in but i think it makes the site look cheap to people that don;t at present us the site.

So vote to drop them or keep them.

dont see any of it. I use adblock with load but not show options. that way at least devshed gets the ad impression.

Chief is correct. Its only if you are not a member and/or not signed into the forums.

Once you are signed in those links go away.

sounds fair enough to me... becoming member is for free after all, many websites
nowdays give services only to registered members, many times it's not free,
so this is quite minor in comparison. don't want irritating ads? register and
maybe you'll also stick around and become active member, who knows.

i think the admins shud have a different kind of aspfree logo(which replaced the belts), against ur names.

that'll look more cool!
beacuse right now, like in ur case, its shows u as an aspfree newbie; and thats strange...... because u r not a newbie but the admin!
may be the title like "Aspfree Admin"

I am a member hence the post, but still think there are now two many ads,

if i was a newbie how would I know that the ads would not be there if i signed up.

When I look at other sites I hate the linked text ads it makes the place look cheap, but thats just me, and if i where not signed up and looking at the posts would the text ads make me look else where and the answer is yes. sorry just my view, its hard enough to read of a screen, excpecally code, and people that are dislexic or colour blind my now find it harder.

Anyway thats enough going on from me.

I guess the admins are by now confident enough of the contents to
lure new people inside - I join this confidence. however it might be
good idea to place announcement saying that joining as member will
give lots of benefits, including no more of those "linked ad texts".

If i needed help (which i know i do !!) and found a forum with this much content a few ads wouldn't put me off !! In fact a lot of ads wouldn't put me off!
