COnnecting 2 or more comps threw I.P. Adresses

Hey im workin on a multyplayer text base rpg and i want to connect all fo the people in it on one web
i want it so people can join and leave when they want to....
it would be nice if they had user names and i need a dice roller that makes the amount of sides and the amount of dice a variable... id ont know how to do any of the things above.....i know how to randomize but not how to do a certain amount with out having to do an if statement for every number up to a certain limit. and ive tried connecting the computers threw an online html forum i can get made but id rather the I.P. Adress if any of you know how to do this then please send me code with VERY GOOD rem statements explaining everything.
