Finger print device
hi,

i want to develop a project in VB for time attendance for nearly 150 employees using finger print device

so i want help whether i can use USB or serial port
any third party ocx needed to develop the software

urg req...

suggestion welcomed

Either usb or serial port should work. Additional installation components would depend on the actual scanning device you use.

hi
i would also to know that

the device i attach to the computer and the drivers are installed , now tell me how would i link this with Visual Basic program and my visual basic code should access the finger print device accordingly
any ocx or dll are required if so how should i include

device name is microsoft finger reader device

if i connect this device and install the drivers how is it my VB application will incorporate with this device

You'll need to add references within your application to the required dll files that allow you to interact with the device.

hi
i got the device and in that i have been provided with drivers and an evaluation OCX file for Visual Basic development

is it that i would rather go for third party OCX file which is full version or the one given with the device will be ok

hi
fine, but the evaluation ocx will be expired and how will the device will interact with the software application

should i go for the full version third party ocx which is available or any free ocx available for integrating with my software
