Unhappy need help asap

I have two problems. one i need to control the com port under win xp but i can not do it although i have done it under win 98 and me.
second i have no idea on how to use directx with visual basic. any ideas ??

I am using VB5 and am not having any problems with the Comm Control under WINXP.

You could try running your program using compatability mode set to WIN98.

If you are using XP you may try the following declaration to work with directX.
In order to use this you should go to project/references and choose directx7 or directx8 objet library. You can see the properie/methods in the object browser.

Public objDX7 As New DirectX7
