Graphics
Hi There;
I have a question for you. I have a graphic that was given to me. It is a company logo. I need to make it fit with a website. A couple problems I have are that the logo is done in black and gold on a white background. I have done the page in navy and silver. I am going to have to change all of the graphics I already made and everything. It would have been nice if I had had the graphic to start with but of course they provided it for me when it was almost done. So okay, no problem I can do that. My problem is the graphic that I was provided with is text with a drop shadow done in a circular fashion around the center word which is done in a gold look. How on earth can I change the background to transparent without effecting the drop shadow or if I can not do that, I could probably reasonably copy the graphic by creating it on my own, except I don't know how to make text in a circular fashion or in a varying size version. |

The only thing I can think of is to trace around the graphic, then copy and paste it into an image with a transparent background. There is a tool that can help you make a pretty accurate trace around the image. Often called free-hand or magic wand.

What sort of graphic application have you got at your disposal -- PhotoShop, Fireworks -- if so then you could import it in to either of the afore mentioned apps and either A. do like JMH said above and trace the image and then reproduce it to your own standards. B. Once imported then export and use the Apha or Index Transperancy Dropper to lift the colour out that you do not need. This is actually a lot easier than it sounds. C. Ask the designers if they have the image still saved as a .psd or .png format, which means all the layers of the image are still seperate and have not yet been grouped together to reduce the file size of a finished image like a .gif or .jpg extension. |
