HELP Query Strings are killing my SEO ranking efforts!
I am a SEO with a client who runs dynamic pages with query strings. I can't get him ranked! It was driving me crazy until I learned from another forum that Googlebot, slurp and other robots see the "?" in the string and stop dead in their tracks.
My client, who is the programmer of these ECommerce sites needs to find a solution. I am helping him get information on software that will make this undertaing possible. WE REALLY NEED HELP as he and his clients are losing big time traffic opportunities everyday. (I'm new to this form and don't see where, if I get a reply, I get an automatic EMail. So If you know that I don't, please EMail me: rob@robwallace.net I am a SEO with a client who runs dynamic pages with query strings. I can't get him ranked! Is there anything about asp in your post? It sounds to me like you need a visit to google or some seo related forum.

mmmm ... an SEO who doesn't know about querystrings and search engines, and a programmer who doesn't know about MOD-Rewrite...
sounds like the perfect combination ![]()

Try http://www.seochat.com
Alternatively, post the URL of the site and/or a copy of your robots.txt file etc.

Interesting that you would make that assumption of my lack of knowledge about search engines as I have 14 top ten ranked sites on google with most of the top three keywords of each site.
Gotta love you Aussies. (started as a prisoners island or something?) Thanks for your help? |

So presumably you could teach us humble programmers a thing or two about SEO then? Why are you posting here? |

lol
you can learn about MOD-Rewrite here: http://www.quantumcloud.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1881 but I guess you're using Windows based servers, thus it's quite pointless. you'll have to make static mirror of the website or something like this, there's no simple solution for you... sorry. |

If you ask _VERY_ nicely you might get help on how to take a dynamic site and automatically build ranking pages from it |

I apologise if I offended you in any way. I made no assumption as to your knowledge, or lack of it, regarding search engines. I simply responded in turn to your statement regarding your recent discovery about the actions of search engines regarding querystrings. Which, by the way, is innacurate. Do a simple test, google for "aspfree thread". Most of the results have querystrings. Google will pick up and index querystings, as will most of the other major search engines. Again, simple tests will validate this claim. I congratulate your succes with 14 top ten ranked sites with google. No mean feat, whichever way you look at it. If you have a specific ASP related question I would be more than happy to assist you in finding a solution. |
