link exchange to sites with high pr's

have many sites in various categories: seo, web hosting, network management, real estate, and more that have pr4 and above. If interested in exchanging links, email at shawn@shawnweeks.com.

What about relevant adult links

Do you have a list of relevant PR 4-6 adult links? I am not talking porn sites and objectionable video and all that, but rather a discreet site that has adult content such as swinger ads, swinging lifestyle information. Basically a couples ad/profile site with forum and other contact tools. If not, suggestions would be appreciated. Most sites in this particular niche dating industry have a PR of 5 or less. I suppose links to relevant sites that have "adult" content such as sexual "liberated" information and discreet adult toys sites would be fine too.

If anyone else has any other relevant suggestions, please let me know.

Google PageRank

The higher (and more) sites with good PR, the more "Googlejuice" your own site gets, and is thus elevated in Google's rankings.

Note that this is one of the ways in whic "unethical SEO" works, by getting loads of sites (called "linkfarms") to link to your site and raise your own googlejuice levels.

1337_d00d is partly right, but has omitted some information.

PR (or PageRank) does have an impact on Google rankings, and many "black hat SEO" companies will use it to create "link farm" directories to sell text links to you so that you may gain more PR for your own site. PageRank is a recursive ranking system based on the number of "quality" (read: non-spammy) pages that link to you, and the number of pages in turn that link to them, and so on and so on. The recursion occurs when sites exchange links, since the PR would go back and forth in iterations between the two hyperlinks.

http://www.iprcom.com/papers/pagerank/ <--- this is the best article I've ever seen on the subject, and the only one I've ever seen that uses math to clearly explain the concept.

The thing is that Google is really starting to catch on to some of the bigger players (textlinkbrokers.com for example) and are choosing not to provide any PR increase to those sites which have inbound links (commonly referred to as IBLs) from the textlinkbrokers.com known network of sites.

They won't punish you for having such a link, since it would be all too easy for a competitor to "buy" bad IBLs and the original site would have no control over it. But there really wouldn't be any PR increase either.

Note that PR, in and of itself, is not the only factor in gaining search engine ranking. It is one, and one that should be paid attention to, but some people take this way too far. Focus on generating good content for your site, give people reasons to come back, and your PR will come naturally.
