Need advice on web designing software
I am developing a web application using asp and MSSql. So far I have written most of the major code. To write the ASP script, i use note pad and also write some html code to see whether the code works dine or not. Now it's time for me to properly design the web layout. As far as I know, there are two software that fulfill this purpose - frontpage and dreamweaver. I guess dreamweaver is much better than dreamweaver. But i just wanted to know whether is there any other software better than dreamweaver. Also tell me whether there would be any trouble for me while embedding my code into the dreamweaver layout.

Hi CB
The last version of FrontPage was FrontPage 2003. Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer and Microsoft Expression Web were the design tools released to supercede FrontPage. If you are looking to develop the website yourself then tools like Expression Web, Dreamweaver and PhotoShop are all worth considering. A quick Internet search will also provide you with plenty of other design software packages, HTML editors etc (both commercial and free). There are of course other options that you could consider for designing your web layout such as purchasing a pre-built website template (again, a quick Internet search should reveal plenty of options) or hiring a web designer/web design firm to build a website to meet your requirements. |

You should try taking the time to learn Photoshop. It is without any doubt the best tool for 'web graphics' such as shapes, borders, buttons, etc. There is also plenty of tutorials and books out there to help you. Fireworks has always been a solitary figure out there in the wilderness and as such is not used as much.

ASP Development
I personally use Fireworks CS3 & Dreamweaver CS3. Also recommend using Adobe's Browser Lab (free service) which will allow to see the "final" end result of your web page on a multiple of browser with having to load all of them on your developer box.
Upset that Dreamweaver CS4 no longer supports the ASP community. |
