Size of a website?

Hi Everyone

I am new here and I am wondering what are the common sizes of a website.. like which standard is required for the user right now?

I go with 900px width

For a centered page I go with 900px width.. that is my new standard considering that many internet users have at least 17" 1280X1024 resolution monitors
