I was wondering if I could ask an environmental question about my old war-horse, VB Studio 2005.
I've just been given a mandate to create web pages for a Browser environment where everyone's IE text size choice -- as selected in IE via View | Text size, or Page | Text size (in IE 7) -- has to be set to "Larger." Working in VS2005, I have to scrunch my fonts down so that they'll render properly in IE, but in design mode they look like hell. I have to keep clicking on the "View in Browser" button to see how they'll render. Is there any way to configure VS2005 so that its design view will render with the larger fonts? I've played around in the Windows and Forms Designer section of the Options window, but nothing seems to address this matter. ![]() |

want my advice? don't use the designer. it has never worked properly
for me and usually just ruined everything. I open the page with browser, then reload the page in the browser when I have to see changes. working like magic. fast. reliable. ![]() |

I was afraid of that.
Yes, I've been doing it that way too, but frankly this is the first case in which the designer has really let me down. I've encountered obstacles before but I've always been able to overcome them by searching out some of the more reclusive settings in the Options menu. The designer really does come in handy when I need to work out various visual results. Maybe it's behaving so well because I'm using the store-bought (e.e., purchased form Microsoft) version and not the free Express version. Still, it's probably just a matter of time before I migrate completely away from it as I develop for a greater variety of platforms... ...unless one of you gurus out there knows a good hack for getting it to render properly. ![]() |
