Apache server

Hi i am using winxp
I want to connect to an apache webserver using ftp.
Before it was conecting properly using dreamweaver and other Ftp client's as well but now i cannot connect to any of my apache server.I used dreamweaver,turboftp,cuteftp and many other's but cannot connect can someone help me with this or give me a fix for this.

Check your firewall settings. If you've recently updated to SP2 or installed security updates, your Windows firewall settings may have been changed. Check any third-party firewalls as well. Have there been any changes on the server?

Listen No firewall settings have been changed no update or drastics change in registry.
Via ftp i can access window's server by using any s/w but for apache it is giving problem's So u see there got to be something else.

I guess the first problem is that you don't connect to an apache server via FTP, you connect to a FTP server using FTP. IIS includes a FTP server, but apache doesn't. So if you're having a problem using FTP to update a hosted website on an apache web server, you need to ask the server admin to fix their FTP server.

I was connecting to my server using ftp priorly But suddenly something happened and then i could not connect.The webhosting is linux webhosting and i suppose they use apache. So u see what the problem i am facing.

Actually we don't. That's where the confusion comes into play.

So you're saying you can't connect to your server at all via HTTP or FTP?

Have you checked with your service provider?

I can't via ftp if using a software.
But if i use a browser any i can connect. hope u understood.

Okay, again, this sounds like a firewall problem. Most firewalls will allow browsers to access ports 21 and 80 by default while other programs are blocked.

1. In your Control Panel, double click Windows Firewall.
2. Click the Exceptions tab.
3. Click the Add Port button.
4. Give it a name and set it for TCP port 21.
5. Click OK to close all dialogs.

Alternatively, you can disable the firewall entirely from the Advanced tab by removing the check mark next to your network connection.
