Basics in accessing the Internet?
Hello experts,
I'm a newbie in networking.. I'm trying to get two machines (Win Server 2003 and Win XP) connected together via a switch / hub. They can ping each other without any problems, but I cannot access the Internet in any one of them at all. What should I do to configure this? Additional Info Win Server 2003 machine's ipconfig details (manually configured): IP Address - 192.168.1.1 Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway - 192.168.1.1 Win XP machine's ipconfig details (manually configured): IP Address - 192.168.1.20 Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway - 192.168.1.1 Please help me out here. Thanks very much! |

You need to start with an internet provider. For cable/dsl/fiber/broadband connections the easiest way is to use an external router that sits between your isp and your computers.
The IP addresses you showed are private, non-routable IP's and can't be used over the public internet.
