Disable Error reporting
We have used a software package Named "Mesabi Mixvision" (since 2000) for manufacturing and within the package an executable: altcp32.exe from "Synergy Software Technologies" which is an application Link between MS SQL server and the Mixvision application. Applink (altcp32.exe) is no longer supported or available from "Synergy Software Technologies" (support ceased in 1999 or 2000). The Original OS was MS NT-4.0 Workstation and there was little issue but, now that the PC's are running MS Windows XP Professional SP2 or SP3, altcp32.exe is constantly reporting a Socket Notification Sink error 0x73e2c2bd at address 0x00000004.
I need to prevent this error from appearing. The message gives a choice of "OK" or "CANCEL". OK returns you to Mixvision with no other issue until it crashes again, CANCEL opens Debug (Not a good thing for our users that doesn't have skill to follow the instruction "Click OK NOT Cancel". I would like to prevent them from turning on "STICKY KEYS" as well, if anyone knows how to do this. My Thanks in advance for all responders |

I can show you how to automate clicking the OK button. I can also show you how to disable Sticky Keys.
However, let's try to get to the root of the problem. When the application crashes, does it leave anything in the Application or System Event logs? You can post a dump of these if you're not sure. Exporting Event Logs in Nilpo's Ultimate Windows Troubleshooting and Security Guide

Nothing is recorded in the logs
Quote:
Nothing is recorded in the logs for Applink. If the user would click OK , all is restored. This application is not fully compatable with Windows XP due to being a 16 bit application first. The currently recommended application (Topserver) requires a great deal of cost and time to implement into the MixVision Application. Budget prohibits the cost to purchase Topserver with enough licenses, Development of a complete New Mixvision, Sql Server Update, and Production Downtime to switch over to Topserver. (We are a supplier to the Auto Industry) I would like to disable Sticky Keys FOREVER on all PC's at our location. I have done all windows allows but, If a key is held down in excess of 6 seconds stickykeys is applied |

I still need to resolve the "Sticky Keys" issue and the "Error reporting" issue. I was told there is a registry string that will disable eroor reporting for an application but not what to write or where. Any Ideas?
