Having trouble on an os
Hey everyone, I am alittle unsure which os to go with since i have gotten a new sound card and speakers. Had my computer room catch on fire, my wireless joystick somehow caught on fire and started my desk on fire which ran to the speakers.
Well, i have a dfi lanparty cfx3200 dr/g, amd 64 3500 cpu, with 2 gigs of memory nothing fancy, ati x800 radeon video card, and a Creative Labs SoundBlaster X-Fi ExtremeGamer Fatal1ty Sound Card, Logitech z5300e speakers. I have the choice to go with either windows xp 64 bit or vista 32-bit. I may go with vista 64 bit but for right now i only have xp 64 or vista 32. Which would be better to go with for my setup or which would i be able to get the most out of my system with? i have tried both but not sure which is better. thanks |

I would recommend sticking with XP at least for now. Vista is not such a nice experience. Very few installs are trouble free, hardware support is sketchy, and UAC will make you want to suck an exhaust pipe.
Hope that helps. ![]()

I agree with Nilpo. To be honest, I'd wait a few more years until I start using Vista as a primary OS. I might put it on a test machine to fool around with it a bit. Wait until a couple service packs come out before you start seriously using it. As with all new Windows OS's, it has a lot of bugs...even more so than most.

I hope Bill Gates won't come to those forums!
![]() seriously now, I agree with Nilpo and JMH - I won't wait few years though, probably within one year it would be reasonable to buy and install Vista. I expect within two maximum three years Microsoft will stop "supporting" XP and this will force most of the people to switch over. |

Maybe a couple years is a bit much, I'm really in no hurry to switch over. I quite like XP. But we share the same basic concept...wait until other people catch the bugs and Microsoft supplies fixes for those bugs.

I'd go with Vista myself.
