HELP! Computer is resetting freely!
Hi there, I'm kind of a noob when it comes to computers, but I come before you today asking for some help. Whenever I try to edit videos in Windows Movie Maker, watch videos in Windows Media Player, or even look into the "My Videos" folder, my computer resets on me. It has been doing this for ages and ever since I have been boycotting watching/downloading vids onto my computer, preferring to watch whatever is on YouTube. Now I have taken the computer back to the dealer who "fixed it" and the problem is still happening. I'm wondering if anyone has the same problem and has fixed it. I've done virus scans and memtests and all have come up clean, so I'm at my wits end basically.
I've currently got Windows XP, with Pentium 4 3.4GHz CPU, 1Gb of RAM and an ASUS Radeon A9550 Display Adaptor (thought this might be relavent because it has something to do with videos). If anyone can help me it would be greatly appricated. |

Perhaps a corrupt video card driver...do you get any errors at all?
If not, you can try the following to see if it will stop rebooting your pc and maybe give you some type of error message to work from: Start - Control Panel - System - Advanced. Under Startup & Recovery, click Settings. In the System Failure section, deselect "Automatically Restart check box" and click OK.

I'll try what you suggested.
The only time I seem to get a blue error screen is wen my printer is plugged in when the computer boots up, I fix this by making sure printer isn't plugged in. |

I'm assuming that your printer connects via USB? If so, you could be experiencing a PSU failure. USB is a powered bus that requires extra draw from the PSU when devices are attached.
If the PSU is failing are too small, the video card is generally the first piece of hardware to react to being underpowered.

Also...whenever your computer resets, it should create an event log entry and memory dump (hopefully). It depends on the type of crash.

I forced my computer to go into a stop error and here is what it says:
A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. BAD_POOL_CALLER If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps: Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask you hardware or software manufacturer for any Windows updates you might need. If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup option, and then select Safe Mode. Technical Information: ***STOP: 0x000000c2(0x00000041, 0x86BC4000, 0x00006BC4, 0x0003FFAF) Beginning dump of physical memory. Physical memory dump complete. Contact your system administrator or technical support group for further assistance. |

Try a google search for 0x000000c2 you'll find lots of pages on this error code, maybe you'll find some other nugget that does match your situation. My guess is also with your device drivers.
