I want to go back to using IE 6.0
I already have IE 7.0 and I want to go back to using IE 6.0 -- but when I try to download 6.0, I get a message that the newer version is already installed and the download stops. How can I override this? I know IE is not the best, it's for the wife's computer. I use Firefox on my PC and her company's VPN won't support it. Also, the new VPN upgrade will now no longer support IE 7.0, that's why we need to go back to IE 6.0 on her PC. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't understand why you say that firefox cannot work with your vpn.
As long as you can connect via your network connection, it shouldn't matter which browser you use. Have you tried to uninstall IE 7?

Yes, I tried to uninstall IE and it says other programs are open and it won't uninstall, but nothing else is open.
The wife said it doesn't work on Firefox, but I just checked and it does work on Firefox. However, she wants IE 6.0 back anyways. |

Tell her that as long as she does windows update on her computer, IE 7 will continue to come up as an update. Because that's how M$ is packaging it. So every time she does an update, you'll have to uninstall IE7?
IE 6.0 is an inferior browser to Firefox. IE 7 vs Firefox....well the jury's still out on that one some may argue the contrary but it's still too early to say if that's the case. So why doesn't she like IE 7? |

Try using Task Manager to end any processes using Internet Explorer and then uninstall IE7.
You can use Microsoft's blocker tool to prevent auto update to IE7. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...&displaylang=en

No Luck... I cannot save 6.0 to my PC because the newer version is already installed.
I cannot uninstall 7.0 because it says It is being used by another person or program... I checked Task Manager and nothing else is running, so I'm not sure where it is open. |
