Installing Vista on XP rig

I want to tryout Vista and don't want to dualboot per say....I have a 2nd formatted HD I plan to install and put Vista on it. Then simply instructed by BIOS to boot off of the second HD when I wanted to start Vista.

I know I can duelboot on another partition but I have heard of issues to the XP OS when deleting Vista. Since I'm not sure I'll like Vista, I'm thinking this option (though cumbersome) is one way to go. Does this make any sense and does anyone see a problem in taking this route? Thanks in advance.

Thanks. My concern was that people were having trouble after deleting Vista cause it would removed the XP Boot loader.
