Just pull the plug...
I apologize in advance if this is not the right place for this message. I have searched the forums and cannot find this topic anywhere. Please someone help me. I am the resident computer geek in an office full of nurses. Today I told one nurse to reboot her computer and she pressed the power switch. I admit, I had a cow. I told her she should always use the Restart option. We are running windows XP professional. She came right back and said the IS department told her that was the proper way ("Just turn it off and on, dearie..") I am hard-pressed to explain to her why this is just wrong. Can someone point me to some official website that I can show her? I need outside proof because apparently my word is not good enough.
Thanks in advance, Badshah |

Most modern systems will do a windows shutdown if you push the power switch. I always recommend Start - Shutdown to my customers, but there should not be a problem with hitting the power switch. Older computer turned off immediately, and that is not good.
