Load Blance / configuring Apache tomcat

Hi,
I'm new here so please excuse me if this isn't the right place. I hope someone can help!

I have two questions:

1. I am running Apache Tomcat webserver and I wish to remove information about
the server and version number. i.e. if I telnet to <mymachine> 80 and then send a malformed
request such as GET / HTTP/1.1 the server returns information including: "Apache Tomcat/Version
xxxxxxx". In version 4.x and above this doesn't appear to be configurable - any suggestions?

2. I want to install load balancing software for TCP/IP packets on my windows network. Is there an MS
or other 3rd party product that is worth looking at....and do they have a trial I could use ..?
