Question Mapped drives access limites

Hello,

I have some problem with Mapped Drive.

The problem is :

On windows server 2003 i have one mapped drive called z. one user deleted a file which is located on this drive. this file is deleted for ever, due to this i didn't find this file in the recycle bin.

1. How can i give permissions to the users that they can't have rights to delete any file from mapped drive.

or

2. If the user deleted a file from mapped drive then how can i recover that file but not buying another third party software.

i am thankful when any one can help me in this regard.

Study up on windows permission settings. As long as the target of the mapped drive is NTFS, and not an OS using simple file sharing, you have complete granular control over who can do what to files on that computer.

There are some deleted file recovery programs around, try google. I don't know if they work well or not.

Thanks for your advise. but this is not enough solution for me because the last night i have taken back ups but during the day that file was modified for 2 times. one hour later onother user wants to access that file . but unfortunatly he pressed wrong button and the file was deleted. this is the day time that's why i didn't keep this modified file in my daily back ups.

Now can u help me in this regard please.
