Microsoft Management Console
Lofty greetings all,
Here's something that is so weird and wonderful. Suddenly and without warning, Diskkeeper 2007 & 2008 give me this unhappy message when trying to run the program. It is as follows ... "Microsoft Management Console has stopped working" and of course the program (Diskkeeper in this case) closes down. I've tried the "Run as Administrator" / "Run as Windows XP" and nothing works. Anyone with an idea as to how to overcome this? (Hopefully I'm on the right forum or the right part of the forum) |

Yes lipmouth ... let me suggest you move on to another forum where there is at least a pulse!?! What in the name of common sense is this place set up for? :-D

Well, it's as simple as members haven't encountered this problem before and don't know how to help ![]() But here's an idea, have you tried taking your Windows installation disk and using the repair option to repair the possibly corrupted file?

JMurrayhead, thank you for the response. Yea, it very well could be something the installation disk might repair. Does it seem odd to you though?
Diskeeper has given me the option of taking control of my computer from their end, to see if they can maneuver it about to see what the problem might be. Is that something you would allow if you had this unhappy snag? |

I suppose it's odd, but if the Diskeeper application modifies the MMC in some way to add itself to it, it would seem as a very likely posibility. As far as them remotely accessing your computer, that's up to you. Diskeeper is a big enough name where you could probably trust them. I would try the repair option first and see if that would work. |

Thanks again for the feedback. Diskeeper has done everything to find out the snag with this, and it's got them stumped also. Diskeeper will come up and then suddenly this message "Microsoft Management Console has stopped working" and Diskeeper closes down. I've uninstalled / reinstalled ... Diskeeper sent me the latest update (even a newer version) and I still get the same message.
There's a msc file that is supposed to be there in the directory and no way is it. They tend to think that something on this end is deleting that file upon installation for whatever reason, so maybe if I give them control of this computer, they'll find the hobgobblin within. I appreciate you coming in on this by the way. Thanks again! |

I highly doubt your thread was ignored or unseen. You're having an isolated issue, it's quite possible that no one knew quite how to respond. ![]()

Yo Nilpo ... obviously you're correct. That this is an isolated case is no doubt by the amount of the responses. It's a weird and wonderful case that is not going to go away to easily. :-}

I've often wanted problems to arise when I'm bored sitting in front of a computer that works well. But this time, I wasn't bored and it came anyway.
Yes, it's a wonderful thing to see for oneself alright, but one still would like to see ones' problem being able to be overcome. As to what's causing it is very mysterious. I shall continue to wonder now. Thanks for the feedback(s). |
