network help agen

im having another problem with my network and another thing. I have connected the leads up for the copmputers, they are on XPhome and Xp pro. I have run the network wizard on the PRO one and its worked. ive now run it on the other one
( that connects to the net,) and it sez cannot complete wizard everytime. im connected to the internet and the other computer is on, what is wrong?, i can see the other computer on workgroup but cannot access resources.

are you connected through a router, or a crossover cable, if you are on a router, you will have to configure it to allow the sharing, if crossover cable, do you have a firewall, it so it will have to be configured. if the xp firewall is enabled, on either machines this will be a problem, some machines if you disable the xp firewall in services will not complete the wizard beacause the service failed to activate. the advanced networking pack update(can be found in add remove programs) can also cause this, it can be removed without problems even though it warns about problems. things to look for make sure both computers are on the same workgroup, and have a computer description
