Network Permissions

I have connected two XP Pro machines (using network cable) via a 4 port router modem.

I have setup ICS and both machines connect to the Internet

The problem I have is that machine1 can 'see' machine2 shared folder but I get a you do not have permission...contact Administrator error when I try to access machine1 shared folder from machine2. I have checked the Permissions and Sharing settings and on both machines they seem to be the same.

Easiest for me is to make sure to use a user account that exists on both computers. Accounts with blank passwords may not be allowed over the network, you can control that with group policies. Also make sure both computers are set to the same workgroup, and that you've enabled file & printer sharing in the xp firewall (or whatever firewall you may be using).

Just out of curiosity, why use ICS if you already have a router?

Hi
Thanks for your advice, I've tried this and still with no luck.

As to the use of ICS with a router what I meant was both machines share the router's Internet connection not ICS sorry.
