Hi:
I am experienced an unwanted problem. I have windows 2000 professional. At start all is working properly, but after some days window's paste option is disable. I reinstal windows, but after some days again this problem occur. Copy and Cut option are still here, but when i copy some file, paste option disable. I am not able to copy any thing even a little text. I installed latest virus definition of Symantic Antivirus. And scan all system, no virus found. Have any one idea, how to enable paste option? You could try disabling any firewall software while troubleshooting.

I have the same problem...
Hi.
I'm experiencing the exact same problem. Actually, at some point, the system warns that something is being closed, and from that point on, paste is no longer available. I reboot, and things are fine; what a pain. What needs to be running for the cut/paste function to work properly? And are there any patches to be applied for this problem? I too am running win2K... Cheers, John |

Have you tried downloading all of the necessary windows updates from http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com? There are usually security and various other system patches that microsoft have released.

I did not find any specific process that enable the clipboard, it's probably part of the core windows kernel. download and run anti-trojan tool, for example:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/m...ve/default.mspx |

instead of a re-boot, just kill the explorer process in the taskmanager. and then restart it using the taskmanager>run>explorer.exe. it may help.

lol I'm doing this all day long with XP. and indeed, it's faster than re-boot and usually solve whatever problem casued the computer to freeze or slow down.

Paste is disabled in windows but not in my browser (Opera).
I have malware tool running right now, hopefully it will find something. My system is totally updated. I have become accustomed to the kill then explorer.exe fix for a multitude of ills, and here there is not a change. Restarts have had no effct. I was not having this problem yesterday. I think either changes I made when removing and "securing against" a remote desktop/user trojan, changes, perhaps to user privilages that caused this problem. Another symptom is that on the bottom bar where open windows usually appear is blank. I had quite a challenging day yesterday in-so-far as virus and trojan removal are concerned. I probably did this to myself and am grateful to anyone who helps. I probably did this to myself and am grateful to anyone who helps. |

This can be caused by malware. It can also be caused by problems with Microsoft Office. Run the Office Update and/or Repair and Lavasoft/Spybot.
