PC won't recognise USB devices
I have had this happen on several machines
, I will plug in a USB device (Camera, Thumb drive..) and the system will see new hardware, install it, make the appropriate noises(boink, boink) informs me the hardware is ready to use, and then I can not find it anywhere on the computer. No access anywhere. Any thoughts????? |

Open Device Manager by going into the Control Panel.
Hit System and Maintenance, and then Device Manager under the Hardware tab. Click the USB device Category and find the endtry for the Device you have the problems with, right click and go to Properties. Click the General Tab and check the Device Status box. If theres nothing wrong with it, it may be a bad driver, or even a very old one. It could even be its not getting enough power, so some people tell me. Im not 100%. Hope this helps! |

Reload the driver and make sure you get an updated one. Also make sure your used ports are not under powered. Sometimes when you have 10 usb connections plugged in the computer cant handle it all. Use a USB hub with its own power source. |
