Angry Permission denied-SmartIssue

Hi, I have a Windows XP operating system. For about 2 weeks or so, I have been having a popup box with the title "SmartIssue" on the top. This occurs when I sign on to my system and get to my desktop.
It does not occur all the time, but most times when I power up my system. I allow any programs in the Startup to do their thing, then, invariably, this little SmartIssue box pops up:

Permission denied
Scr:Microsoft VBScript runtime error
Line:10 Error:0 Scode: 800a0046

I can "X" or "OK" this box 15 or 20+ times, and just when I think that it is done, and I try to click on to my Homepage Icon, I get yet another popup box: Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or
file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item. The only thing that I can do then is to reboot, sometimes it takes me 2 or 3 tries, but then the system seems to work fine. Can anyone point me in the direction of correcting this problem. I have looked up Microsoft VBScript runtime error 800a0046 line 10 on Google, and there is some generic info, but not enough specific info for XP. Thanks

Others are having similar problems:
http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/winxp/t1062544752

It appears to be a program from Support Software. Check your task manager for any programs or processes running and see if any of them are the cause. Search your hard drive for the program and try removing it.

Hi JMurrayHead, Thanks for your response. I did not find anything in the taskmanager that would correspond to the SmartIssue. However, I have a program called WinPatrol, and one of the programs within WinPatrol does have the same icon as SmartIssue by the name of tgcmd.exe. I highlighted this and did an info search, and it is the Support.com Scheduler and Command Dispatcher. It is located in the HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run in the registry. I disabled tgcmd.exe in WinPatrol, but the SmartIssue has not been abated. Where does this Support Scheduler come from, and if removed, what does that do to my system. I thought that it is maybe tied to Microsoft, as I did click to have the system automatically updated, and think that maybe there is a problem with that. Very Frustrated at this point. Thanks

Have you tried searching for this program in the following directory:

C:/Program Files

I'd check that out and see if this program has an uninstaller with it. This program appears to be in no way, shape or form tied to Microsoft.

Outstanding! Another suggestion I can make is downloading the following programs: CrapCleaner, Spybot - Search and Destroy. These two programs worked wonders for me.

Permission denied - SmartIssue

I had this same problem, finally related it to the Sony Vaio support system. I was able to stop it by (unchecking) the Server entry in the Startup items.

Go to the msconfig startup box, then uncheck the Item: (Server) Command: C:/programFiles/support.com/client/Iserver/server.vbs

Reboot the system. This stopped the annoying smartissue warning on my system. Hope this helps.

SmartIssue Access Denied Pop-up

JimB, I first tried another suggestion to uninstall SONY VAIO support program. That did not appear to work.

I then ran msconfig to get to the startup box, found my way to the startup tab, found the command you cited, and then unchecked it. The on rebooting, I was queried in a pop-up window that I had changed something, but did I want to return to the original default settings. I did not, so I checked the box at the bottom which requested that the pop-up box not be initiated at every boot-up sequence.

My only question now is by unchecking that command line, could it have any adverse effect on running my other programs?

Any idea how the SmartIssue pop-up evolved in any case? I can only think of MS automatic downloads and a renewal of my TrendMicro PC-cillin virus software as recent changes to my system...?

Thanks for your original tip and thoughts on these questions.
